Horse Racing & Events
The town has a close affiliation with thorough breed
horse racing. With approximately 80 - 100 horses in training and
with past champions such as Better Loosen Up, Campaign King and the
Australian High Jump record holder 1978 Montevideo either trained or
breed here makes the town quiet unique. Race meetings are held
throughout the year, with the Berrigan Cup being the biggest.
Held on the Melbourne Cup weekend, the town's population
swells from 1000 to around 5000 people A great time to experience
the atmosphere when this small town comes alive.
Golden Canola Festival The festival provides another opportunity
to enjoy the festivities of this outback rural town. It is seen as a
time for the locals to reflect on the prosperity that agriculture
brings to this outback region. Once again the locals encourage
visitors to join in the celebrations, including the grand parade,
joy flights and farm tours. |
