Horse Racing & Events

The town has a close affiliation with thorough breed horse racing. With approximately 80 - 100 horses in training and with past champions such as Better Loosen Up, Campaign King and the Australian High Jump record holder 1978 Montevideo either trained or breed here makes the town quiet unique. Race meetings are held throughout the year, with the Berrigan Cup being the biggest.

Held on the Melbourne Cup weekend, the town's population swells from 1000 to around 5000 people A great time to experience the atmosphere when this small town comes alive.

Berrigan town and Berrigan golf club is featured in the Outback Plains day trips and Golfing Bonanza sections of the "Centre to the Murray Attractions" campaign.
