River Lakes Day Trip 1 |
|
|
Let's go east to the River lakes region.
First stop Barooga and the Bingi Boomerang Factory , where
boomerangs are made for clients all over the world.
See
demonstrations and learn how to throw one properly.
Next
visit the Daveile Gallery, a lifetime's collection of antiques, over
400 Victorian coloured oil lamps, superb China and original dolls
and prams.
Time for lunch and for fine food and a relaxing
atmosphere there is none better than the Barooga Sports Club.
After lunch we cross the Murray river to Cobram, take the
first turn left into River Rd, follow around to McIntyre Rd, turn
right.
Proceed and cross the highway, you are now on Cottons
Rd. Approximately 5kms ahead on the right is Wyterrica Park, the
alpaca stud and tourist farm.
Interact with the alpacas,
meet Mini & Molly the donkeys and browse for alpaca garments and
gifts. Time to leave the farm and travel back to the highway.
Turn right and travel towards Yarrawonga. The Byramine
Homestead is approx. 16km ahead in the left. Established by pioneer
Elizabeth Hume, the homestead is National Trust classified.
View life as it was in a bygone era then travel home via
Cobram to Tocumwal.
Enjoy your day. |

Travelling east from Tocumwal follow the signs towards Mulwala,
where the rivers meet the lake.
9km before Mulwala on the
right, overlooking the Murray River, is the Murray Estate Winery
with cellar door sales and tastings.
You can arrange a
personal tasting. Continue towards Mulwala, when you come to a T
intersection turn left and travel 2km to the Linley Park animal
farm.
Spending time with a huge variety of animals in a
delightful natural setting is a great way to unwind and relax.
Time for lunch! Aboard the MV Paradise Queen on Lake Mulwala
is the perfect spot. It's leaving from the Yarrawonga foreshore, so
travel through Mulwala, over the bridge and turn left.
A
great meal, fully licensed and a lake cruise. Enjoy!
To
complete the day, visit the Canning A.R.T.S. Yarrawonga Gallery, one
of the biggest selections of original art, craft & gifts along
the Murray River.
Situated right in the centre of town.
There are many other attractions in Mulwala &
Yarrawonga, as in all the regions featured and you may like to visit
again.
